(This is the title of your first blog post)
Dear Reader,
Hi. I'm not much for the blogging, and it took me more hours than I'd like to admit trying to figure out how to change the settings on my iPhone let alone build an entire website, so you can imagine how accomplished I feel even posting this! But even with my technologically challenged brain, I have found a way to create this website and created this blog for one simple reason- I LOVE MAKEUP!
(I mean it!)
Ever since I was a young child, I have loved the idea of makeup. I remember sneaking into my mother's purse trying to find and put on (quite horribly) her favorite MAC lipstick (shade is "O" incase anyone was curious). The small victories I felt everytime I procured that small bullet shaped tube and coated my lips like an old hollywood moviestar are memories I will never forget.
I was 4.
From that moment on Makeup and I shared a special bond. It was there for me when I was an akward pre-teen and teenager and I needed to remind myself I was beautiful, when I needed to feel extra special for a school dance or wedding, when I started doing theatre and was forced to become quite intimate with Ben Nye and the terms "highlight and contour".
(And since I brought it up, theatre eventually took over my life and I am proud to say I am currently studying acting in the hopes of becoming a professional actor one day, that is my first love and what I beleive to be my calling in life.)
It was there for all of that. Years of history and trial and error have led me to this moment in my life, and I'm ready to take the next step in my relationship with Makeup. Calling myself a makeup artist still feels weird, I've had no formal training, all of my models are friends of mine who wanted a free makeover, how could I create a profession out of something so rooted in my personal life? And then I thought, isn't that what it's supposed to be? When you love something, shouldn't it be personal? So here I am, a makeup artist, using my best friends as models, using a combination of upscale and drugstore makeup, and creating art. But that's not the end goal. I want to create art, of course, but I also want to make people feel beautiful and inspire them to love themselves just a little more.
Whether you're a young girl off to prom, a pre-teen who like me spent hours weeding through beauty blogs and videos, a bride to be, or a mother who gives her all to her children and needs to feel like a beautiful woman for one night, I'm here for you. I want to give to you what my mother gave to me all those years ago with her MAC lipstick: love, confidence, and power. You ARE beautiful, and I'm just here to help you see it.
This blog post I realize is less of a post and more of a preaching, and I promise from here on out they will be quite unlike this. From here on out they will be product reveiws, tutorials, how-to's, and behind the scenes of my shoots, all to help inspire you as you develop and perfect your individual beauty routines.
For now, this is it. Thank you for taking the time to read all of this and I hope to hear from you soon!
Stay Fabulous,
alyssa.
